Susan Boyle is Breaking Records
Susan Boyle is awesome. That’s all I can say about that. Her debut album “I Dreamed a Dream” has sold more copies than any other debut female artist in the history of the Billboard charts. She’s sold over 700,000 copies so far, and that number is sure to keep on growing.
In case you’ve been in a coma for the past year, Susan Boyle became an internet sensation after she appeared on “Britain’s Got Talent” and wowed the judges and audience when she began to sing. The look on Simon Cowell’s face was priceless. It was amazing, and you can watch it here.
Boyle’s album is totally worth the download (or the purchase of an honest to God CD, if you still collect those things). Many of the songs have already been performed on Susan’s talk show circuit. It’s got the title track, “I Dreamed a Dream,” as well as her renditions of “Wild Horses,” and “End of the World.” The songs that really impress me, though, are “Who I Was Born to Be,” and “Proud.” Both songs speak of a woman longing to be accepted for who she is. They seem somewhat autobiographical, given Susan’s meteoric rise to fame, but I think that anyone listening can relate to the desire to be loved and to make someone proud. Disenchanted women in their 40′s and disgruntled teenagers who crack out on American Idol are bound to love it as much as I do.
I seriously hope that Susan Boyle is buying herself Gucci panties and bathing in Crystal with all the money she’s made on her debut album. She’s rich, beyotch! And good for her. Now if I could just get myself a record deal . . .
* UPDATE: Thanks to @madvoter for calling me out on the line about Simon Cowell, which has now been removed.
