OMG.. That is so funny! All kidding aside though, one of my favorite professors once gave me the coolest post card--she knew I took a lot of flack for saying that I am against marriage as an institution, gay, straight or otherwise--it says "MARRIAGE IS A FORM OF SOCIAL CONTROL. GET THE STATE OUT OF THE RELATIONSHIP BUSINESS." I love love love it! I have also written a number of papers on why I am against marriage in any form and on how annoyingly heteronormative most of the verbiage contained in literature promoting gay marriage. This is particularly true of legal documents--many of which assert that gay couples must be allowed to marry because children need loving, two parent homes to grow up normal. Excuse me? What does that say about single parents? Their kids will automatically be screwed up? No. Anyway, great post and a great story! AHHHH HA HA HA HA! OMG.. That is so funny!
