Cami Kalman

5936_753151561171_10046624_46835011_230550_nCami is a longtime women’s activist. She earned her B.A. at Arizona State University in Women and Gender Studies. She has spent many years working with children and teenagers and knows that they need people working on the sidelines to make sure they have options and choices in their lives. Cami is a huge advocate for women and children, having choices, silly little dogs and cats, zombie movies, and feminist theory.

What is Feminism?
I take the simple approach to this question. To me feminism is the social and economic equality of all people. When I first realized I identified as a feminist all of the definitions overwhelmed me and made me want to forget the whole thing. Simple always works best for me.

What is Choice?
Choice is everything. Choice is what we wear when we get dressed in the morning, what tattoos we might have, who we choose to have sex with, and if and when we choose to have children. Without choices we have no equality. The need for choice is not limited to reproductive but for me it starts there. Women are enslaved and denied health care without reproductive freedom.
